When it comes to weddings, I always seem to struggle to find a dress that is conservative, yet still fun and age appropriate. Being tall, some dresses can look like a long top on me, (hello, tall girl problems) so when I add heels it just looks like I’m going clubbing – not that I just wear long tops clubbing, rather than attending a formal occasion.
For those who know me, you’d know how much I love the midi length. Anything that falls below the knee is my absolute fav!!!! Sometimes, it can be very hard to find a midi dress with the right style and fabric for my body shape. I have curves (and I’m in no way complaining) so I always avoid any fabric that is known for clinging.
I came across this Alice McCall dress and it instantly ticked all the boxes in my head. The colours, the lace and the silhouette it created was just beautiful! The little split at the front was a cute little surprise and made it a lot easier to walk and sit in the dress as the fabric had no real stretch to it.
Once the dress is sorted, everything else just falls into place. Seeing as though I am admittedly hopeless at styling my hair, I seeked the help of the beautiful Hannah to create a style for me to suit my dress. Considering it was raining and windy all day, my hair stayed perfect and the curls she created stayed as styled all night! Go Hannah!
With that said, I just want to add that it’s so okay to still wear mini dresses to any formal occasion. Just remember to be tasteful and appropriate, and if you can’t sit properly in it then you might want to give that dress a miss 😉
